Introduction
The 2006 SuperDARN workshop is being hosted by the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory and will be held at the Herbert H. Bateman Educational and Administrative Center in the Chincoteague National Wildlife Center on Assateague Island, Virginia. The refuge is on a barrier island that includes more than 14,000 acres of beach, dunes, marsh and maritime forest that extends between Maryland and Virginia. It is located along the Atlantic flyway and serves as a resting and feeding spot for a diverse variety of migratory and non-migratory birds. It also provides a sheltered natural environment for many other plant and animal species including the famed Chincoteague ponies. The Bateman Center includes a 150 person auditorium that is used for primary level environmental education during the academic year. We are indeed fortunate to be able to use this site for our 2006 Workshop.
